This promises to be an enjoyable wander through our past history. It is a fascinating musical concept, based on actual people and events that occurred in our colonial history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Led by one of Auckland\u2019s most inimitable actors, Peter Elliott, “The Unsung Heroes” present an evening of folk song, renditions of archival newspaper clippings, photo images from the 1850s to early 1900s, and a beautifully read version of Rudyard Kipling\u2019s poem \u2013 the Explorer that was written during the poet\u2019s travel time in New Zealand in 1898. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They tell stories from New Zealand\u2019s settler past in finely crafted theatre, music, and song, with old newspaper articles & poems that deftly introduce each song\u2019s central character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Included is a photographic slideshow of historic images as accompaniment, with gorgeously evocative music and words, and Elliott\u2019s old-style radio diction, sharp timing, and dry humour all predictive of ways we have come to see ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
