Show starts from 7.30pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This promises to be an enjoyable wander through our past history.  It is a fascinating musical concept, based on actual people and events that occurred in our colonial history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Led by one of Auckland\u2019s most inimitable actors, Peter Elliott, &#8220;The Unsung Heroes&#8221; present an evening of folk song, renditions of archival newspaper clippings, photo images from the 1850s to early 1900s, and a beautifully read version of Rudyard Kipling\u2019s poem \u2013 the Explorer that was written during the poet\u2019s travel time in New Zealand in 1898. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They tell stories from New Zealand\u2019s settler past in finely crafted theatre, music, and song, with old newspaper articles &amp; poems that deftly introduce each song\u2019s central character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Included is a photographic slideshow of historic images as accompaniment, with gorgeously evocative music and words, and Elliott\u2019s old-style radio diction, sharp timing, and dry humour all predictive of ways we have come to see ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tickets $20 at the door.
